MALGORZATA WIEREMIEJCZYK-WIERZCHOWSKA

Ever since I can remember, my life has revolved around dogs. Although I graduated from the Faculty of Textiles at the Lodz University of Technology, my professional life has also been related to dogs for many years.

I am a basset hound person. My first basset hound was a charming bitch Soraja Bajka z Zajeczego Gonu and she was a gift my mum gave me in 1979. I became a member of the Polish Kennel Club Krakow branch in the same year, which makes 44 years of membership to date! I have owned and bred many basset hound champions, one of the most prominent one being my AKC and International Champion, Dusan’s Wise Guy. All of my dog show stars have already crossed the Rainbow Bridge, but we are now enjoying the company of another basset puppy boy, who will hopefully follow my other bassets’ footsteps.

My dog fancy led me to become and active member of my Kennel Club branch and I have been its President for 25 years now. I am also a member of the General Committee of the Polish Kennel Club headquarters in Warsaw.

I became an FCI judge in 2000 and now I am appointed to judge FCI Groups I, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII and X (Group VI being my speciality). I also judge all Polish breeds: Polish Lowland Sheepdog, Tatra Shepherd Dog, Polish Greyhound, Polish Hunting Dog, Polish Hound and Polish Hunting Spaniel. I have been promoting and supporting Polish breeds for 17 years, especially during the International Dog Show in Krakow, where we organise a Parade of Polish breeds every year.

So far, I have had the pleasure to judge in many countries, including: Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Russia (including Eurasia) , Estonia, Latvia, Belarus, Hungary, Ukraine , World Dog Show Bratislava Slovakia 2009, Lithuania, Australia, Israel, Croatia, France, Sweden, Finland, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Romania, USA, England, Serbia, Thailand, Slovenia, Norway, European Dog Show in Brno 2014, European Dog Show in Brussels 2016, Japan, New Zealand and Word Dog Show Brno Czech Republic 2021.

I have been the President of the Basset Hound Club in Poland since 2007.
